“Rust” was released on the Entity netlabel in February 2006, featuring collaborations between the artists, Dotkraz, Idle Sunder and Casual Coincidence.
For someone who doesn’t really listen to much ambient music or “found sound” or whatever you may call it, “Rust” was an intriguing listen. The sound is definitely dark and eerie - I think its good background music for a scene in an abandoned hospital or ghost town!
However, that horror film analogy cheapens “Rust”. There is great use of noise, wide reverbs, long drones to achieve that spooky, unsettling feel.
If you like found sound recordings and ambient background music with a dark flavour, “Rust” is for you.
