The above title can’t be more true for the artist that is featured this time around. You probably have some memory of him if you have listened to If:Then:Goto by Another Syntax Error which was featured on gratisvibes some time ago. He is no other than bad loop, one of the remixers from the album. His remix was one of the better ones on the album that I actually liked. Being curious, I decided to check him out and it just happens that not only has he done remixes, he has also released a few albums of his own.

Here’s an excerpt of the description of the album on the netlabel:
“…An achievement inviting you to quietly listen and enjoy a comfortable and catchy groove with its adventurous instrumental adornment, thoughtful melodies, spiraling synths, playful/pragmatic percussion, and bouncing bass.”

To say that the tracks have a bouncing bass would be an understatement. This album is literally brimming with super low kick drum hits. What has made me notice this album more was the fact that a lot of the groove depends on the manipulation of the kick drum. What’s special about the kick drum is that it has a lot of sub-bass so if you turn up the volume, the sub-bass would really rock your setup just like how a kick drum for a dance track would. Maybe you could describe Bad Loop’s style of music as “kick drum idm” as he layers complex percussion hits with a very fat kick drum while fusing with playful melodies and pads that remind you of the older days of electronic releases. Truthfully, you may have not understood what I just said or what just happened. Just know that this album kicks ass and I mean it.

Favourite tracks:
Eri Valeire - I like the melody on this track and and loopy drum patterns really bring you to another place

Mmin - What’s not to like about the airy pads, nostalgic melodies and sounds fused with a more constant but still heavy ass beat? Another rocking track.
