Today, we continue our coverage of great Creative Commons chillout music on the web. This will be one of the last chillout albums that I’ll be writing about for a while. Zilent Zpott (Silent Spot?) is another chillout artist at Digitally Imported. Zilent Zpott is a former alias of Marco Torrance who has since went commercial. However, before he did, he just happened to release an EP on The Kahvi Collective.

Marco Torrance terms his music “trance and epic chillout”. Indeed, the sense of scale that the EP gives is unique to the style of Marco Torrance. Zilence is a blend of heavily processed atmospheric sounds, keys, pads, processed beats and suppressed trance-like arpeggio leads arranged in an almost orchestral manner. Electric guitar melodies featuring Volker Kaufmann from Shaped Signs complete the experience. The first track is a purely ambient one that starts you off slow and easy but this track is all but forgotten when we reach the third track “Onda Silenciosas”, which in my opinion is the best track on the EP. The whole EP is probably more like a wonderful romp through a range of different kinds of emotions. It is as new agey, and soundtrack-like as it is chillout.

Favourite track:
Onda Silenciosas
Featuring Audioplacid, this track is easily the best one on the EP with a nice driving rhythm that is just fun from beginning to end.

Note: The Shaped Signs website (link above) has a number of great tracks that you should listen to if you’re into new age music.
