This time around, it is recommended to us by the artist himself, BCM. It’s an IDM album comprising of both “ChillDM” style tracks and those of the lofi techno-ish nature. The first track Syntax 5 reminds us of vaguely familiar synth textures that we have probably heard at one time or another in our lives. It’s the sort of tune that’s easy to relax to. One thing that makes it not so smooth a listen was this panning effect that was quite drastic at some parts which I only noticed when using headphones. Other than that, the listen went on smoothly with some reverby drums mashing up the rhythm here and there.
Fumer is the second track, Fumer sorts of continues in the same way but with a more prominent buildup. The track really caught me at the end around the 3:30 mark with its sudden launch into a great multitude of harmonies. Unfortunately it was short lived but this is probably the best track from the EP.
Although the third track, Slip Rotate really didn’t catch my attention, the fourth track Crash Time with its techno loops and repetitive rhythms were somewhat mesmesrizing. However, it is not something that I would listen to over long periods of time. Overall, it is a clean and nice change of pace for the EP.
With only 1 more track left in the bag, Oily Mist Mont is surprising in that it departs totally from the style of the other tracks in the album. Going into hypermode, the rhythms are as frenetic as they come. Lasting only 0:53, BCM allows us to see the more rhythm driven side of him. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to glean anything that is really outstanding from this track.
Thanks to BCM for the recommendation. And keep on producing music.
